Let’s say you are staying in Göreme and want to get out and do something but only have a couple of hours. Or maybe you finished touring the Open Air Museum and have a couple of hours to spare before heading to your next activity.

If that describes your situation, then Kiliçlar Vadisi (Swords Valley) is calling your name.

Valleys are a highlight of Cappadocia – Pigeon, Love, Red, Rose, Ihlara, Swords, Zemi, and more. We take you on a hike through each of them.

We came around a curve in the path and were met with this balancing act showing us the way. Wow! I think I could hike Zemi Valley every day for a year and not grow tired of its beauty.

Photo taken by Joshua Moss. Josh, son of Aaron, is a true musical prodigy who lives in Cappadocia. You can listen to his inspiring music here &/or search “The Venus Rotation” on iTunes. As you listen recognize that Josh did not start music until 2011 and has never had a formal lesson. He plays piano, guitar, drums, and cello. Be sure to listen to Autumn’s Rose, which was written as a birthday present to our daughter, Kaylie.
Zemi Valley is inexplicably one of the lesser explored valleys in Cappadocia. It begins off the Ürgüp – Nevşehir road and end 5.6 kilometers later by the Tourist Hotel in Göreme on the road to the Open Air Museum. This picture captures a bit of the beauty of this valley.

Fall in Cappadocia is breathtaking. The second half of October is the best time to come to catch the manifold leaves in all their glory. A few weeks later you will find trees embarrassingly naked and longing for spring.
This was taken in Zemi Valley.

This is my favorite valley hike in Cappadocia and that is saying something.
It could be that we first hiked it in the fall when the leaves were changing and the abundant fruit was ripe.
It could be the trail which was mostly flat but long enough to cause a sweat.
Maybe it was the beauty and diversity of the landscape which justifies the captivating part of our website name.
Regardless, this valley is a wonderful gift from God who designed this landscape so it would erode into these breathtaking valleys. We did both trails and are going to take you on a photo tour that will hopefully entice you to make the hike when you visit. (I have included the map from Part 1 at the end of this post.)
