Cappadocia is one of my favorite destinations in Turkey even though the last time I visited was in 2000. After recently watching a program about Cappadocia on the BBC I was inspired to re-visit this beautiful destination in the snow!

The first time I visited Cappadocia I was broke, so my friends and I had to do it on a tight budget. We still had an amazing time, but this time around I wanted to fill our 3 days in Cappadocia with a bit more of the tours …

I booked my flights to Cappadocia Airport (Nevsehir) with Turkish airlines via Istanbul, and the rest was just a rough plan! What I wanted to do was;

Discover Erciyes Mountain

Erciyes volcano ski resort

That is what we did on a beautifully sunny March morning.

After a year-and-a-half living in Cappadocia, gazing at the mountain 60 km away, we considered it time to explore this amazing mountain.

We were afforded the opportunity to visit when our children’s school arranged a day-trip to the mountain. Not only did we make the beautiful trip up the mountain, but we were also privileged to partake in the culture experience of a school field trip. (Track the day from 8am to 8pm by watching the video).

I love this place!

Why, you ask? It is because of the people.

His given name was İhsan but they quickly nick-named him Ömürlü, or long-lived. For Ömürlü was to carry on the Bayram family name and the family business.

If you are in retail, how far do you go to secure customer satisfaction? Where is the limit?

Chez Bircan cappadocia pottery

Hasan Bircan, a master potter in Avanos, Cappadocia, seems to have no clue what the limit is, but he is a pro at guaranteeing customer satisfaction for those interested in Cappadocia Pottery.

Let me explain…One day a customer strolled into Chez Bircan, Hasan’s pottery shop, and inquired about a piece of pottery. When asked how much it was, Hasan told them that the price was 15 liras, to which the customer exclaimed, “That is so expensive. How about 10 liras?” Hasan replied, “Well, 10 liras is almost like giving it to you for free.” The customer looked at him and decided, “OK, I’ll take it for free.” Hasan wrapped up the pot with bubble wrap, fastened it with packing tape, gave it to her, and the satisfied customer walked off with a free pot!

Customer satisfaction to the extreme!
