What is the nicest hotel you have ever stayed in?

Taskonaklar Hotel

Taşkonaklar Hotel in Uçhısar. Welcome to paradise.

In all of our travels over the years living in four countries and visiting well over 20, we have stayed in some holes-in-the-wall and in some laps-of-luxury.

As I think of the nice spots, the Taşkonaklar Boutique Hotel is towards the top of the list.

I first connected with Tolga Akarcalı, a Managing Partner, through Twitter and then in person at his hotel in Uçhısar overlooking Pigeon Valley. He related to me the story of how the hotel came about and their vision for serving visitors to Cappadocia.

My wife and I were able to spend a night at the Taşkonaklar and can say firsthand that you will not be disappointed if you choose these lodgings for your time in Cappadocia.

Let the pictures below tell the story…

Taskonaklar room

Vaulted ceiling, spacious environment, and a bed with a premium mattress make you want to remain in the room your entire stay.

Taskonaklar bathroom

The expansive bathroom was wonderful with plenty of counter space (my wife said to mention this).

Taskonaklar Shower

I could stand under a rain shower all day.

Taskonaklar amenities

Nice touch!

Taskonaklar view

Pigeon Valley and Erciyes Volcano from right outside your front door. Many rooms have their own outdoor sitting area.

Cappadocia Erciyes Taskonaklar Hotel

Taskonaklar breakfast buffet

The included breakfast was delicious with a nice selection.

Taskonaklar dining room

Eat breakfast (lunch and dinner are available but not included) while looking out over Cappadocia’s beautiful Pigeon Valley and beyond.

Uchisar castle

Uçhısar castle, the highest point in Central Cappadocia, is just a few hundred meters from the hotel.

But even with this you need to visit in person to capture the true picture of how nice the Taşkonaklar is. I have not mentioned the friendly staff, the optional services, the attention to details like comfy sheets with high thread counts, fireplace in the room for cold winter nights, and their emphasis on being eco-friendly.

Come to Cappadocia, stay at the Taşkonaklar, and let us know all about it by leaving a comment here.

And if after all of this, you still need convincing, here are two other travelers/bloggers who have written about the Taşkonaklar. Vagobond and Perfect Boutique Hotel.

I would love to stay in Taskonaklar because there’s nothing more exotic than visiting an ancient site and trying to imagine what the lives of previous dwellers were like. To be able to have this historical experience in modern luxury is like a dream!

Staying in a cave hotel in Cappadocia is on my bucket list – I’ve heard so many magical stories from folks who describe it as an unforgettable experience.

    • dukedillard

The double bonus would be that we would get to see y’all!

I thought that since Cappadocia is probably our most visited place as a couple during the last 20 years that a stay at the unique Taşkonaklar Hotel would be an excellent way to celebrate our 20 year anniversary, thanking the Lord for giving Brenda and me 20 years of marriage together!!!

    • dukedillard

Chris, you and Steve have the same idea. I know my wife would love to spend an anniversary at Taskonaklar.

I’ve lived in Turkey for four years and never actually been to Cappadocia! Having a free night in a hotel like the Taşkonaklar would definitely get me there. I know my wife would love it, and the kids would too… if we bring the kids…

    • dukedillard

Karl, you have to come to Cappadocia even if you don’t win the free night.

Karl, bro, three years ago I stayed four days and it is amazing, I advised many people to stay there and I added many itineraries for our tour.

  • Steve M

We’d love to have such a getaway. From your photos, Taşkonaklar appears lovely! Perhaps we could stay there for our 30th anniversary next summer… Press on, Steve M
