On the way to the Ihlara Valley, we saw signs for “Gaziemir Underground City, the largest underground city in Cappadocia”.
We decided to check it out.
A bit of false advertising should not deter you from a visit. I think this was a very large caravansary rather than a city. Click here for more details, but for now let this picture give you a sense of the height of the underground rooms, some of which kept camels for the night.
