5. DOLUNAY MOTEL & CAMPING
Dolunay opened in 2002 and offers a combination motel and campground. They have plenty of grass for camping with not as much shade as may be desired. The motel is very basic, and I will not give details here as this post is focusing on the camping. I would probably not recommend the hotel. They are located about a kilometer outside of Göreme on the Avanos road.
PRICE:
Tent = 15TL/tent but this is negotiated for large tents that hold multiple people.
RV = 20-25TL depending on different variables like size, # of people, and length of stay
Laundry = 15TL per load
Kitchen facilities = free use
Restaurant & Market = prices vary depending on what you order/buy
Included = Pool, toilets, shower, electricity, internet
FACILITIES
A nice grassy field surrounds the pool and provides a view of the fairy chimneys north of Göreme. Sites are not divided so you just pick your spot and then run an extension cord to the nearest electrical hookup.
SWIMMING POOL
A large pool is nicely surrounded by tall shrubbery providing plenty of sitting area shade without blocking out the sun from the pool.
INTERNET & LAUNDRY
Internet is free and laundry is 15TL per load.
RESTAURANT & KITCHEN & MARKET
They do not really have a market but rather a few items like snacks and drinks are available. The restaurant will make special order meals (does not normally serve meals without pre-orders) and the kitchen is readily available for use. Breakfast is served to motel guests but is not included for campers.
ELECTRICITY HOOKUPS
They run extension cords to your spot.
SEASON & MANAGEMENT
Open March 15 to October 15 and run by a manager who is not related to the owner. Given the normal turnover rate in these situations, I do not think it is helpful to give details about the manager.
TENTS & RVs
Plenty of grassy space but not much shade.
Nice dining room connected to the kitchen. Order meals or make your own.
